The Warchrome Wastes are a post-apocalyptic, dieselpunk wasteland. How it got this way is unknown, but the Wastewalker Deckard has wandered far and wide gleaning knowledge from forgotten ruins, hoping to discover what came before and how the world ended. One of the legends of the wasteland's history concerns the spectral Roadraider, stating that he was once a Marshal who fought to establish law and order in the wastes. What remains of him in this burning apparition may never be known. The very sight of the unearthly flames emitting from his Helldorado has been known to strike fear into the hearts of raiders.

Only the diesel priests, led by Nazeebo, can access the secrets held within the high-octane. With a mighty roar, they funnel its fury and combustion into a material world.

The Warchrome Wastes are primarily ruled by biker gangs, but none are more feared than the Warsong Outriders on their Road Boars. Led by "Mad Axe" Garrosh, the roar of their engines is considered 'death on wheels'. The mutant warlord is served by his cyborg general, Dominus Vile, who commands the warband's mutant forces, ordering them to scour the wastes, raid outposts, and bring their master whatever their simple minds can conceive of as having value.
