Interwiki links[edit source]

I added an interwiki link to wowpedia incase you guy link there a lot. [[wowpedia:Worgen]] makes wowpedia:Worgen for example. They can use | to change the display text as normal. I can add some to other wikis if these are something you like and you have other wikis you link to a lot. --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:39, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

etc[edit source]

Hey, I've been updating the hero data manually, and I see you're working on that too. I want to agree on a few standards with you before I continue, so that we have the same goals in mind.

1. Talent Icons: Originally, they used a lot of the same images as abilities, so to cut down bloat and improve load times, I changed all of the file names to use the minimum amount of files possible on each hero. I see the new talent icons you're uploading have a different color than the abilities, so they'll need to be changed back where appropriate. Sorry about that.

2. Listed ability damage: Before I updated every hero to the Illidan-rework-patch, there was an inconsistent pattern. I stuck to "(X + Y per level)", where X is the base (or level 0) amount, and Y is the per level scaling. I kept X as the level 0 amount for clarity, and to ease user multiplication. Most but not all of the old pages had it as "Z (X + Y per level)", where X was the level 1 amount, and Z was the level 30 total damage. With a display like that, trying to calculate the max damage of an ability with "X + (Y * 30)" would give an incorrect answer.

I propose a new standard: "Z1-Z2 (X + Y per level), where Z1 is the level 1 amount, Z2 is the level 30 amount, X is the base (or level 0) amount, and Y is the per level scaling. For example, Abathur's Toxic Nest would be "50-485 (35 + 15 per level)".

Also, I don't know what sources you're using for numbers, but a lot of the values you changed yesterday do not match the live values. You should refrain from using that source.

Let me know what you think, or if you care, before I go back to updating. Thanks. =) -Pentheraphobia

My source is HeroesNexus :) about icons, I see on videos that passive abilities and talents are darker than active abilities, and that's the reason of the difference, but, if I have to change them, I will change them
About numbers... I didn't understand, buy I'm sure that your choice is right xD --Kandooww (talk) 18:53, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Then HeroesNexus is not accurate. I'm going to edit the numbers back to what is displayed in the ingame tooltips. -Pentheraphobia

Videos on hero pages[edit source]

Hello. The person who put the video on Valla works with Curse, and he was wondering where would be best to place them on the page. Would you guys like them in a video section like the one on Valla was moved to? I'll ask Egrem too, since he is the one who moved it, but I wanted to ask you too since you're an active user and stuff. --Sigilbaram (talk) 23:16, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

The same applies :)--Kandooww (talk) 09:50, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

RE: DBTeamWiki replacing icons[edit source]

Hey. I replied to your comment but the system doesn't currently notify people of that so I wanted to ask you here. What do you mean? Are some of the icons wrong or something? I see here you kept reverting the image to the one with the black border, instead of the transparent one. Is this what you're referring to? --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:20, 10 July 2015

Yes, there is a bot that changes it to the trasparent one.--~~
The icons that the bot uploads come straight from the game, that way we know they are up to date. Instead of trying to manually upload black versions of all the icons, it might be more efficient to change our templates so that they add a black background behind the transparent icons. This also allows us to choose whether certain places use the black background or not vs if the black background was part of the files we're stuck using the black background everywhere. --Sigilbaram (talk) 18:25, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Please don't delete code from templates[edit source]

In this edit you deleted the SMW section from the {{Infobox team}}, which broke {{team}}. Also, there was also a lot of odd changes in that edit that make it look like it came from some other wiki? Was it a copy paste? --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:51, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Jumping in here on a related subject. It seems our various infobox templates are not based on Template:Infobox, or at least don't use it like its used in Wikipedia (where each field has a "label" for the name and "data" for the value to be added), which makes editing them pretty hard if you aren't the original creator. Any reason why? --Celellach (talk) 09:07, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

Animated Spray Generator[edit source]

I updated the animated sprays and added Sylvanas. See here: Talk:Spray#Animated Spray GeneratorRmkane (talk) 23:28, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Small Hero Icons[edit source]

Looks like you took on this task a little more than a year ago. I noticed that some small hero icons were missing. I don't know how you generate these, but they are missing on the Voice actor page.

HeroIcon abathur.png HeroIcon anub'arak.png HeroIcon artanis.png HeroIcon arthas.png HeroIcon azmodan.png HeroIcon brightwing.png HeroIcon chen.png HeroIcon cho.png HeroIcon diablo.png HeroIcon e.t.c..png HeroIcon falstad.png HeroIcon gall.png HeroIcon gazlowe.png HeroIcon greymane.png HeroIcon illidan.png HeroIcon jaina.png HeroIcon johanna.png HeroIcon kael'thas.png HeroIcon kerrigan.png HeroIcon kharazim.png HeroIcon leoric.png HeroIcon li li.png HeroIcon li-ming.png HeroIcon lt. morales.png HeroIcon lunara.png HeroIcon malfurion.png HeroIcon muradin.png HeroIcon murky.png HeroIcon nazeebo.png HeroIcon nova.png HeroIcon raynor.png HeroIcon rehgar.png HeroIcon rexxar.png HeroIcon sgt. hammer.png HeroIcon sonya.png HeroIcon stitches.png HeroIcon sylvanas.png HeroIcon tassadar.png HeroIcon butcher.png HeroIcon lost vikings.png HeroIcon thrall.png HeroIcon tychus.png HeroIcon tyrael.png HeroIcon tyrande.png HeroIcon uther.png HeroIcon valla.png HeroIcon xul.png HeroIcon zagara.png HeroIcon zeratul.png

Skin images[edit source]

Are you using a 4K monitor? Your screen grabs are ultra-high definition... — Rmkane (talk) 00:56, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

Unluckily, nop :( I'm taking the images from here --Kandooww (talk) 18:59, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. — Rmkane (talk) 19:19, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

I found a process to obtain 4K screenshots using an Nvidia graphics card using a 1080p monitor. Here is the process that I have documented: Talk:Skin#Screenshots in 4KRmkane (talk) 12:01, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

Pop culture references[edit source]

Thank you for helping me! Especially for going behind me and cleaning up the quotes. May I ask where you're getting the accurate quotes from? I've just been listening to them and writing them down. Esjael (talk) 23:49, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi! You're welcome, and thanks to for writing so many referencia. I'm using CascViewer, that allows you to see the files :) --Kandooww (talk) 06:33, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

Skin image renaming[edit source]

Thanks for helping convert the old "tint n" naming format over to the new "skin..." format.

Not sure if this makes sense? LOL — Rmkane (talk) 03:11, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Kel'Thuzad is missing from the front page[edit source]

Heroes of the Storm Wiki/Heroes needs to be edited to include Kel'Thuzad in the Assassin list.

Emoji template[edit source]

I got almost all of the Hero's emojis working on the Emoji page. The only issue if the variation ones.

The filename for the Crypt Queen Zagara Happy emoji is File:Emoji Zagara Crypt Queen Pack 1 Crypt Queen Zagara Happy.png

As you can see:

  • The Hero name should be first (i.e. "Zagara")
  • Followed by the variation (i.e. "Crypt Queen")
  • Next by the pack (i.e. "Pack 1")
  • Then by the emoji name prefix (i.e. "Crypt Queen Zagara")
  • Finally the type (i.e. "Happy)

The Hero name and variation are scrambled around, when dealing with variation emojis as such as the ones listed below. How do you think this should be handled?

{{C/Emoji|Zagara|Crypt Queen|zagcq}}
{{C/Emoji|Sonya|Death Knight|sondk}}
{{C/Emoji|Sonya|Deathbringer|sondb}}
{{C/Emoji|Jaina|Dreadlord|jaidb}}

— Thanks, Rmkane (talk) 14:39, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

I think the change can work, but I'm not able to delete _ --Kandooww (talk) 16:58, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
I fixed it. I just had to declare new variables up at the top, to be used. It looks much cleaner too. You can check out the changes here. — Rmkane (talk) 18:55, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
I made the optional abbreviation display only when provided. Check the diff for reference. — Rmkane (talk) 13:00, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Cleaning up and condensing the Hero skins for inclusion on other pages[edit source]

As suggested to Senescalzin,

As you can see with Greymane's skins, I converted the mess of templates into their own individual templates. I will do this for all of the heroes so that they can be included in other pages as well e.g. Hallow's End. I will create a table for each year and reference the skin templates. This can also be used on the Hero skin themes page too. That way the descriptions, captions, and prices will have be contained within the template.
