Talandar is a proposed hero from the Blizzard Entertainment StarCraft franchise.[1]

Background[ | ]

StarCraft This section concerns content exclusive to the StarCraft universe.

Talandar was the first in a new generation of Purifiers, AI constructs built from the brainscans of ancient protoss warriors. Talandar was modeled after the fallen protoss hero Fenix, who had died years earlier. During the End War against Amon, Hierarch Artanis recovered and activated his prototype personality, which believed it was Fenix, and held memories of his friendship with Artanis. Talandar aided him in the fight against Amon, but soon discovered that he was not Fenix, but a mere copy.

Undeterred, Talandar proposed activating the ancient first generation of Purifiers, machines that had rebelled against the protoss, to use against Amon. Artanis and Talandar went to the planet Endion, and fought the zerg under Amon's control, reactivating the ancient Purifiers from stasis. They agreed to aid Artanis and come back to protoss society, but only if Talandar led them. Under a new leader, the Purifiers returned to the protoss homeworld of Aiur, and drove Amon back to the Void. Discarding the name of Fenix, the Purifier took the name Talandar in the wake of this battle, deciding he would be his own being and carve his own path.

Trivia[ | ]

  • Blizzard has stated that though Talandar and Fenix often share the same name in many media, for the purposed of Heroes of the Storm, they are considered different characters.[2]
