Hallow's End

Hallow's End is a seasonal event from the Warcraft universe that takes place each year during the latter half of October. It is the in-game counterpart of Halloween. This event normally features new skins, mounts, and festive bundles, players can earn a portrait and there is a special bonus XP during the event.

Background[edit | edit source]

Main article: Hallow's End
"Observed by both the Horde and the Alliance, Hallow's End is a celebration of the break between the Forsaken and the Scourge. Many tricks and treats await adventurers seeking holiday fun, including defeating the Headless Horseman, visiting inns and cities for fun items such as masks and costumes, and eating way too much candy in one sitting."[1]

In 2017, Heroes of the Storm introduced Quests as a way to obtain Loot Chests.[2]

2017[edit | edit source]

By playing games during Hallow's End in any mode except Custom Games, Training, or Heroes Brawl, players will have a chance to earn ghastly new rewards. Rewards will be unlocked as part of a three-part quest chain.

  • Part 1: Play 2 Games during Hallow's End
    • Reward: Cartoon Headless Horseman Spray
  • Part 2: Play 8 Games during Hallow's End
    • Reward: Hallow’s End Warcrest Banner
  • Part 3: Play 15 Games during Hallow's End

Bonus XP[edit | edit source]

During the first part of the event, players were able to earn an additional 50% XP from games.

  • In 2015, this was available from October 27 until November 3, 2015.
  • In 2016, this was available from October 25 until November 8, 2016.

Loot Chests[edit | edit source]

Beginning in 2017, leveling up during the Hallow's End event will reward player with a special Hallow's End Loot Chests. These themed Loot Chests are only available during the event, and now guarantee at least one of the limited-time items from that event—including portraits, sprays, skins, and mounts.[2]

Jack-O'-Lantern portrait A special quest awards players with the Jack-O'-Lantern portrait, upon winning 25 games during the event. The quest was available from October 27 to November 17, 2015.

Deputy Valla portrait A special quest awards players with the Deputy Valla portrait, upon playing 15 games during the event. The quest was available from October 25 to November 8, 2016.

  • Epic Countess Kerrigan
    • Backstory: Countess Sarah von Kerrigan's bloodthirst knew no bounds. It was only a matter of time before the Vampire Slayers of Raven Court rose up against her reign of terror.
  • Legendary Infested Tychus
    • Backstory: Maybe keeping that visor open on Char wasn't the best idea...
  • Epic Skelethur
    • Backstory: Exoendoskeleton... logical next advancement. Secondary benefit, elicits fear in adolescent terrans. Useful.

  • Legendary Buccaneer Falstad
    • Backstory: To this day, Captain Falstad and the crew of the Wildhammer honor the pirate’s code set by Mistharbour's Council of Three Anchors. Of course, some say those rules are merely guidelines...

  • Epic Deputy Valla
    • Backstory: No one settled disputes on the lawless streets of Riskville faster than Valla de Hunter. When Marshal Raynor began to deputize a posse, she was the first gunslinger on his list.
  • Legendary Scarecrow Xul
    • Backstory: Farmer Saldean looked at the empty pole with confusion. Hadn't he hitched up that new Scarecrow? In his bewilderment he missed the words scratched into the dirt, "It's time to harvest."

  • Legendary Doctor Wolf & Stein
    • Backstory: Doctor Wolf has turned to twisted science in hopes of combatting the supernatural abilities of Raven Court's vampires. The serum he has developed is indeed powerful... but it comes with a price.
  • Epic Vampire Slayer
    • Backstory: Not all of Raven Court's vampires swear fealty to the Raven Lord. The one known only as "V" has launched a solitary crusade against her own kind, making her an unlikely ally of the Vampire Slayers.
  • Rare Bewitching
    • Backstory: Taking her Hallow's End costume seriously, Brightwing has amassed an impressive variety of "ingredients" for her cauldron. Just don't ask where they came from.
  • Rare Creepie
    • Backstory: This is definitely the darkest timeline.
  • Rare Pump'kin
    • Backstory: Every Hallow's End, Cho'gall makes sure to mock the Headless Horseman. After all, two heads are better than none.
  • Rare Paper Bag
    • Backstory: Goblin Law of Transaction #65: Never pay more for a Hallow's End costume than you need to.
  • Rare Garden Shambler
  • Backstory: For his first Hallow's End costume, Murky wanted to dress up as the scariest thing he could think of. So, he chose to be a garden shambler. Wouldn't you?

    • Backstory: Honestly, it doesn't need a costume to be terrifying. But it does need one to go trick-or-treating.
