Arthas and Jaina were once involved in a romantic relationship, but while they and Uther were investigating the Plague of Undeath spreading throughout Lordaeron, Arthas gradually descended into darkness, culling the city of Stratholme, taking up the runeblade Frostmourne, becoming a death knight of the Scourge, killing his own father, and leading the Scourge as it ravaged the kingdoms of Dalaran, Lordaeron, and Quel'Thalas. As Arthas at one point told the dreadlord Tichondrius, he never felt any remorse or shame for what he did. Even years later after Arthas had become the Lich King, Jaina seemed to have not given up her love for whatever small part of her noble prince remained within the Lich King.[1] | |

Medivh was known to be an immensely powerful and skilled sorcerer, especially since he was granted the powers of a Guardian of Tirisfal (a sorcerer champion empowered to fight the Burning Legion) by his mother Aegwynn, the previous Guardian. During the Third War, Medivh appeared as a mysterious Prophet that guided the mortal races to unite against the Legion in Kalimdor. In the World of Warcraft manual, Jaina is stated to be the most powerful human sorceress alive, hence Medivh's comment.[1] | |
