Chromie, the Keeper of Time, is a Ranged Assassin hero from the Warcraft universe. At first glance, Chromie appears to be an ordinary gnome. In truth, she is Chronormu, Bronze Dragon and a master of time. When it comes to temporal manipulation, there's no problem she can't solve... with some help from her future self, of course.

Chromie is a long-range mage with high burst damage. She requires good timing and setup.

Background[edit | edit source]

Warcraft This section concerns content exclusive to the Warcraft universe.

Chromie (aka Chronormu) is a bronze dragon, tasked with maintaining and restoring Azeroth's timeline. Disguised as a gnome, Chromie would ask adventurers in World of Warcraft to help her maintaining the timeline and was eventually sent by the bronze dragonflight to investigate the Nexus.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Chromie is a long range, high burst damage Mage, who requires good timing and setup. When playing Chromie, it is of utmost importance to anticipate your target's movement path, since both Sand Blast and Dragon's Breath come with a short delay.

Strengths[edit | edit source]

  • Outstanding poke
  • Extremely long range
  • High burst damage output

Weaknesses[edit | edit source]

  • Low health pool
  • High learning curve
  • Requires good positioning
  • Below average mobility

Reworks[edit | edit source]

Lead Game Designer, Brett Crawford, acknowledged the issues that Chromies long-ranged playstyle causes in-game: "We have always kind of had a problem making artillery Mages feel good in our game. There were times and, it was something that we thought players would enjoy, is that we spent a lot of time thinking about what Chromie would be if we just made her a Time Mage instead of an artillery Mage. So we went through the thought process of, 'Can she slow down the entire Battlefield?' At the end of the day, there were so many people that love playing the long-range poke hero so we felt it would be a disservice to not go that route."[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Chromie first appeared in World of Warcraft (November 2004).
  • Chromie was teased as a new hero with a Twitter gif showing the shadow of a dragon.[2]
  • Chromie is voiced by Karen Strassman.
  • Chromie is the smallest hero in the game.
  • Chromie was the first dragon hero in the game, the other two being Alexstrasza and Deathwing.
  • All of Chromie's base skin tints have the color schemes of different dragonflights. Emerald Chromie resembles a member of the Green Dragonflight; Ruby Chromie resembles a member of the Red Dragonflight; and Obsidian Chromie resembles a member of the Black Dragonflight.
  • The Iron Timewalker Chromie skin resembles a Dark Iron dwarf.
  • The Lil-Ming Timewalker Chromie skin resembles Li-Ming, as the name implies.
  • The Leper Timewalker Chromie skin resembles a leper gnome.
