Background[edit | edit source]
Careena Kingdom is responsible for bringing the characters in the company’s online team brawler to life through movement. This movement includes everything from the way a characters stands, fights, fidgets, runs, and even the way they dance. Research is an important facet of her job, as the history of a character can greatly inform their animations and many characters have well-known and established lore and backstories within their respective Blizzard game universes that players know and recognize.
Kingdom joined Blizzard Entertainment in 2012 as an animator on the StarCraft II development team working on the Heart of the Swarm expansion. She then transitioned to the Heroes of the Storm team and was promoted to senior. She briefly returned to her StarCraft roots to animate a boss battle sequence in StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void, though her focus is almost entirely on Heroes of the Storm. Before joining Blizzard, Kingdom worked on a handful of other games including Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender, Dreamworks’ Megamind, and Marvel’s The Avengers.
In her spare time, Kingdom enjoys sculpting, drawing, puppet building, and all things miniature.
