Illidan Stormrage, the Betrayer, is a melee assassin hero from the Warcraft universe.[1] The first Demon Hunter betrayed his people by creating a new Well of Eternity after the demonic invasion of Azeroth. Now Illidan lords over the realm of Outland slaughtering unsuitably prepared Heroes who venture into his domain.
Illidan is a mobile, sustained damage Assassin who pairs well with Heroes that can enable him.
Background
Illidan Stormrage is known as the Betrayer, as throughout the millennia of his life he has deceived friends and family alike for power.
The night elf Illidan Stormrage was born before the War of the Ancients, a conflict that erupted over 10,000 years prior to the Third War, when the chaotic Burning Legion invaded Azeroth. Driven by his thirst for power (and his desire to impress Tyrande Whisperwind), Illidan made a pact with the Legion to secure the entrance of its leader, Sargeras, into Azeroth through the might of an artifact called the Demon Soul. The efforts of Malfurion Stormrage, Illidan's twin brother, disrupted the Legion's plot; the demons were defeated, and Illidan was imprisoned.
During the Third War, Tyrande released Illidan from millennia of imprisonment, hoping that the Betrayer would redeem himself by battling a returned Burning Legion. Though Illidan fought to defend his people, he soon slipped into darkness: after absorbing the energies of the demonic Skull of Gul'dan, Illidan became a demon, an act for which he was banished by Malfurion. Fleeing the wrath of the night elves, the twice-condemned Illidan allied himself once again with the only entity that would accept him - the Legion. Illidan's demonic masters sent him to destroy the Lich King, who had broken free of their influence, but Illidan failed to do so. To protect himself from the Legion's vengeance, Illidan hid on Outland, a destroyed world that he would eventually seek to rule.
Abilities
Talents
After using Sweeping Strike, burn nearby enemies for 22 damage a second for 4 seconds.
- 1) Extended by Illidan's unit radius.
- Does not draw tower aggro when damaging Heroes under their Structures.
- Damage from Immolation is unaffected by external offensive damage modifiers and lifesteal effects.
- Disabled while Illidan is Mounted or in Stasis.
Increase Sweeping Strike's Basic Attack damage bonus duration from 3 to 5 seconds. If Sweeping Strike hits 2 Heroes its damage bonus is increased from 35% to 125%.
- Does not stack with itself.
- Damage bonus increase always lasts 5 seconds: If the next Sweeping Strike hits only a single enemy Hero while Battered Assault is still active, the baseline bonus of the new cast is overridden with the higher value until previous cast's Battered Assault bonus ends.
❢ Quest: Every Minion you kill gives you 0.2 Basic Attack damage. Every Takedown gives 1 Basic Attack damage.
❢ Reward: Once you reach 20 Basic Attack damage, receive an additional 20 Basic Attack damage.
- Continues to gain stacks even after the quest is completed.
Using Dive grants 75 Physical Armor against the next 3 Hero Basic Attacks for 4 seconds, reducing the damage taken by 75%.
- Illidan can have a maximum of 4 Block stacks from this Talent, and the duration of all existing Block stacks from the Talent is refreshed if he gains more from it.
Betrayer's Thirst's healing from Basic Attacks is increased from 30% to 50% while Sweeping Strike's damage bonus is active.
Basic Abilities heal for 35% of the damage they deal. Double this bonus versus Heroes.
- Benefits from bonus damage from Marked for Death, but not from Immolation's burn damage.
Dive grants 20% Movement Speed for 2 seconds. If the target is an enemy Hero, reduce its cooldown by 1 second.
Increases the range of Dive by 20% and allows it to be used to dive to allied Heroes.
- Using Dive on an allied Hero does not damage them nor flip Illidan over them.
Sweeping Strike can go over walls and terrain.
❢ Reward: After hitting 15 Heroes with Sweeping Strike, gain a second charge.
- Original animation of Sweeping Strike becomes broken when this talent is picked (adds extra frames of delay durning end animation).

Dive deals an extra 180 damage if used consecutively on a target within 10 seconds.
- Does not stack with itself.
Every 3rd attack against the same Hero deals an additional 7% of their maximum Health as damage.
- The counter is reset if Illidan has not attacked the enemy Hero for 3 seconds.
- Attacking a different enemy does not reset the counter.
- Counter continues through the cycle even if Illidan is Blinded or the target is Evading, although it cannot do the percent damage to such a target as the attack misses.
